Ten Tips for Dental Hygiene Instrument Sharpening

In any industry, people using a blade of some sort depend on their tools being in tip-top shape to get the job done. Chefs need sharp knives, surgeons need sharp scalpels and dental hygienists need sharp scalers. Dull tools on the other hand can cause physical strain on the clinician as well as the patient. Sharpening techniques are taught to all hygienists in their respective programs unfortunately it’s common for them to lose confidence in their ability to do it correctly. Others simply feel like they don’t have time during the busy workday to get it done often enough.
