Night Guards are Bandaids

How many of you see the usual signs of wear and tear on the teeth like occlusal cupping and facial abfractions only to go right into a protective night guard conversation? It makes sense to want to “protect” the teeth, but unlike a sports guard that is meant to be worn for short periods, we all need to carefully consider who is the best candidate for a guard that our patients will be wearing at night long term.
